Have you bought bread from a Loblaws store in the last 20 years!?
Congratulations! You could be entitled to some BREAD! Well, more like financial compensation, after the whole 14 year, Loblaws bread price-fixing scandal!
Loblaw and its parent company, George Weston, have agreed to pay $500 MILLION to settle the class-action lawsuit over the big scheme. Funds paid out will compensate consumers who purchased packaged bread between 2001 and 2021. So there’s a pretty good chance you can get paid.
Loblaw has also apologized for its role in the incident, acknowledging that such behavior “should never have happened”. No kidding! A price fixing scandal by huge Canadian Grocer!?? Come on Galen.
If you bought packaged bread in Canada during the specified period, you’re automatically part of the settlement! Amazing! There’s no need to file a claim; however, if for some reason you want to opt-out, the deadline is April 25, 2025.
